Posted by jeanne nagel on June 06, 2000 at 15:58:44:Something I forgot to mention is that, in addition to his moderate sleep apnea, my husband is only able to sleep 3-5 hours each night. He never has slept more than 6 1/2 to 7 hours but this decrease nightly is adding to his sleep debt.
Is this likely because the apnea episodes are waking him up, with maybe a resultant "learned" response that going back to sleep may be useless? Do others with apnea have shortened sleep hours at night like this or are others sleeping 7-8 hours a night, even tho the apnea makes for non-refreshing sleep?
