Bryan,

I had the same problem as well after my surgery that was 16 days ago. I did not feel better until about day 11 and that seemed to be when my pain started to decrease. I thought the worst was over when I left the hospital because I too stayed over night. I had sinus surgery and my tonsils removed along with the UPPP. I began to get a lot worse on day 3 and by day 5 I had began regretting the surgery. My main problem was the pain medication and anything liqiud going up my nose. The pain medicine burned so bad that it would take me thirty minutes to take 3 teaspoons full. I tried everything to prevent it from going up my nose, but nothing worked. I switched to pill form on day 4 and although it was hard to swallow, I could at least not have the nose burn. My doctor told me that most people do not see improvement until day 9 and I have to say he was correct. The main thing that helped me was ice chips and popsicles. I lived off of those for the first 9 days and the ice helped the swelling in my throat and kept me hydrated. I also slept with an ice bad on my throat and I wore it most of the day too until day 10. I still have a scab in my throat, but it is going away and I am off all pain medication now. I am swallowing much better and I am eating regular foods again. I am sorry to say that I really felt no relief until day 9 and I did not feel good until day 12. I feel really good now and I am believing it was worth it. Good luck with your recovery! I am sorry I could not offer more positive news, but I want you to know the truth! Hang in there because it does get better!

Take care!
Michele
