My doctor did not recommend using heating pads or eating/drinking hot foods due the increased risk of bleeding. Using ice packs would be better so soon after surgery. I tried the flexible ones that you put in the freezer and they can wrap around your throat. Good luck with the pain. I'm on day 8 post-op and it has not improved much yet.
