Before I say anything, recognize that most of the people on this board (including myself) are not trained doctors. I'm sure that you're taking that into account as you read the various responses.

Early in my recovery, I noticed what looked like something hanging down on the right side of the back of my mouth. My first guess, which was wrong, was that my uvula had been shortened & moved to the side. On my regular follow-up visit, I mentioned it to the doctor & he didn't address it specifically (he's a good doctor who's done this over 1000 times but doesn't talk much or provide much info). However, he did say that several stitches had come out & that I shouldn't stretch the back of my mouth (open wide) or cough (severe coughing from taking the hydrocodone pulled out some of the stitches). I didn't look at the back of my mouth for the next week or two. Recently, I looked again & noticed that what was hanging was no longer there. I'm guessing that what I saw originally was the flap from the soft palate hanging after some of the stitches that were holding it up came loose. Now that it's healed more, it's no longer hanging.

I found a somewhat technical article that describes the flap procedure to UP3, but there are enough pictures to make it understandable & it may help explain what I'm trying to say:

Once again, I'm not a doctor, but I think you can relax & allow the healing to take place. Take care!
