The UPPP is painful but manageable. I have a pretty low tolerance for pain and found the first 5 days were the worst. Really it was day 3 though 5, as the first two days the pain was being handled in a hospital setting. I had mine done at Stanford, where they are not sqeamish about giving enough pain med. Make sure to complain loudly and often if you are in severe pain. The meds they have should take the edge off of it for the first several days and it will get a little better every day after that. Good luck and congrats on taking the first step to a cure!
