Trach ?????

Well, now I have a trach finally scheduled for 7/17 and to be honest I am relieved and scared to death at the same time!! I have a few questions that I was hoping ya'll might answer.
1. What are the negatives? Things you can no longer do, etc.
2. Does the trach interfere with swallowing food, pills, etc.?
3. How long does it take to get back on your feet after the surgery?
I have a zillon more ?, but these are really on my mind! Thanks for your help!
