3.That question probably depends on your over all health. Hospital stay can be 1-7 days. Once home you generally feel OK. After you are home it's more a matter of care for the trach and getting use to it. Making sure the stoma is healing and keeping the area clean

There is a wealth of information on trachs in the archieves of Non-CPAP and also the early sleep apnea forums before Non-CPAP topics was made into a forum alone.

There are still a few of us that have had trachs for years and a few newbies who would be glad to help answer your questions.
