Genioglossal Advancement on 7/8

Posted by sherry on July 02, 2002 at 18:20:54:

Well, add me to the list of sleep surgery patients on July 8. Sounds like the sleep docs across America are gonna be busy. I am scheduled for a Genioglossal Advancement. I have had myself really worked up over it - had a mile long list of questions. Bottom line is my doc says it is nothing compared to the UPPP and other stuff. Says it will hurt, but the pain is controllable. I will be in the hospital for at least a day, maybe 2. He was honest with me and told me there is no way of knowing if this will take care of the problem, but that this is the next step to take. He said that at the least, I would have to probably go back on BiPap if I can tolerate it. If not and the GA doesn't relieve anything, then looks like a MMA or Trach is the next option. Wish me luck.
