My trach is 2 yrs. old. Just know that with time, good care and healing, for the great majority of those trached for OSA, the trach gets to the point where it is a non-issue in your life, like brushing your teeth. You clean it in the morning because it's good for you, and go about your day! Does it have it's challenges in the early phases? You bet it does. Cleanliness is foremost. Secretions normally lessen with time. Swallowing - no different. Speaking - I say anything I want, whenever I need to. No problem. Everyone tolerates surgery differently for different reasons. Bottom line -- be well!!!
