Posted by Dawn W on July 04, 2002 at 12:38:38:Hello to anyone who is following my posts :)
I went back to work this week (Tuesday)! I wouldn't have minded staying home another week but alas bills have to be paid. I am now 13 days Post Op.
I have felt really good since I last posted. I only have the slight sore throat when I let my throat get dry. I've not taken or needed any pain medication for several days. I am eating a regular diet, however being careful with some foods that seem to still give me that "getting stuck" feeling.
My sinuses are still "draining" but only when I blow. I still use a saline spray to keep the nasal cavity moist. This is extremely helpful. It breaks up the old "stuff" so you can get it out and prevents you from getting all stuffed up.
I'd like to note, that before I had this surgery done, I was EXTREMELY tired by about 9 p.m. every night. I would lay down on the couch and just die! I always thought this was because I'm a working single mother, who works very hard. Well, since surgery, I'm not so tired!! I've been up every night until 11 or 12. I haven't struggled to get up the stairs to go to bed. I'm not sure if this can be attributed to the surgery, but it certainly makes me feel alot better. I will have a repeat sleep study in 2 months. With any luck, my surgery has improved my apnea significantly.
With all that said, I have no regrets about surgery and would do it again. I'm glad I made the choice to proceed.
I'd love to be more active and go out today but it is so durn hot!!! I'm in Illinois and it is an oven. Alot of the US is hot so I'm sure alot of you are experiencing it too!
Take care all! I hope my experiences ease your pre-op jitters a little bit.
Dawn
