Sleepy,

At least you had someone who could answer your questions and explain some things to you. No one has called me specifically about the surgery, post-op care, discharge aftercare, nothing! I read posts on this site that some pts wake up in ICU and stay there a day or two. Understood, though since proper hydration is necessary & certainty about that open airway needs to be established. I would rather stay hospitalized until I am stable. On my paperwork (I am sure for the sake of the insurance company) this is called a 23-hour procedure. But it ends up with the pt staying overnight for a day or two. But in ICU?? Were you told that?

I had my pre-op labs, CXR, & EKG done on 7/1 and was originally told that I would be speaking with the Anesthesiologist that day. No way. I will be seeing him/her on the day of surgery. Gee, I have been turning all of this over in my head since I was approved for this procedure thinking I would get more specfic info before the day of surgery.

Oh, and yes. Coincidentally, my real name is Amy & it is interesting that we both will be having the UP3 on 7/8! I will post daily and will look forward to hearing how you are getting along too. I am doing better, even though I have awakened with palpatitions each morning. I just have to get this surgery behind me and then I will be researching & posting onto other message boards. Haha.(for Plantar Fasciitis and lumbago!) Oh well, one surgery at a time! I hope you are feeling better about the surgery. For me, I just have to remember to let go & let God! Thanks everyone for your kind responses to my message of 6/26 & 6/30!

Keeping good thoughts for you,
Amy
