recent study; still can't sleep after GA in April

Posted by rkf on August 12, 2002 at 07:54:19:

Been a while since I last posted. Background: diagnosed OSA early '90s could not tolerate xPAP; started with deviated septum repair in late 90s; rf tongue Oct 2001; hyoid suspension Jan '02, turbinate reduction Jan '02; GA April '02; uvula removed when I was two (1952). Recently had a study that showed RDI reduced from almost 90 to 70 (both with hypops). Sleep center recommends bipap, doctor wants autopap. If I couldn't tolerate cpap or bipap before, why do they think I will now? No-one in Utah does the MMA and I can't find a doctor who knows much about the procedure even though my current ENT learned the GA from Drs Powell and Riley. Should I bite the bullet and go through the hassle of the pap machine for a few months then try to get sent to Stanford? Does anyone know if Altius insurance will cover going out of the area for this type of treatment? Any other suggestions?
