UPPP at 3 months

Posted by next up on August 12, 2002 at 10:19:09:

I know alot of people read this board for information after recently being diagnosed with apnea. So I am checking at my three month mark post UPPP surgery.

My overall recovery seems mixed, but so far so good. My throat is basically back to normal, but I do still seem to have one small sore spot back there. I am sleeping better. I had developed a problem with anxiety before my surgery, but that seems to have resolved over the last month. I can fall asleep and pretty much stay asleep. I probably only wake up 1-2 times per night and I have NOT woken up due to choking or a racing heart in over 2 months That all being said, I'm still tired during the day but not nearly as tired as before the surgery. Cant tell if I just need to catch up on my sleep or if I'm still having apnea. Right now, my gut feeling says its both(with less apnea than before in both frequency and duration of event), but a sleep study scheduled for next month will tell me the answer.

This surgery is a bear. Good luck to all who chose to pursue this route in treatment.
