I have insurance, an 80/20 plan. I just went to my dentist and said I'd pay him in cash. This allows me to skip the expensive sleep study (I KNOW I have apnea!) and just go for treatment. The dentist will probably charge you a fraction of what you'd pay for a sleep study and a CPAP machine, 20% of all that test and gear is still more than he charges for a simple appliance.

I've treated my apnea for several years just by laying on my side, and this works fair for me. It's just uncomfortable, and my arm goes to sleep. But for someone with mild apnea, a dental appliance may be the way to go.
