I had the same procedure, for my apnea. My hubby says that I sleep silently now, the last sleep study showed light to moderate snoring. It doesn't surprise me that he doesn't notice it, since he falls asleep first, and I snore right after falling asleep, and besides, a freight train through the bedroom wouldn't wake him up (a true blessing for the first pre-surgery years of our marriage!).
That said, I hear time and time again that the UPPP is one of the most painful surgeries out there to recover from.
Are you into liquid diets? Being laid up for 2 weeks? Unrelenting pain for the same period? If you have a high pain tolerance threshold, then it shouldn't be a problem. I don't. Others also seem to handle it better than I did. From what I understand it's the tonsillectomy that is the source of the most pain.
Just my 2 cents worth.........
