The following is a link to a previous post that includes several suggestions that people have made (it's on noncpap forum 10):

I had tonsillectomy/UPPP/turbinates surgery on May 31 & it went very well. There was pain, but not as much as expected. I drank plenty of gatorade & took my painkillers (hydrocodone & later oxycodone) regularly (woke up at night to take it). As you can tell from this site, people have different experiences. The main thing is to keep hydrated, stay on top of your pain medicine & plan to take it easy for awhile. I hope your surgery & recovery go well!
