I guess we are moving towards MMA

Posted by rkf on September 17, 2002 at 05:46:02:

After the HS, GA, somno tongue, turbinate coblation, I was given a new cpap. At the best setting my RDI was still almost 40 but we gave it a try. From 7/15 until 9/13, I tried every night but only managed a total of 60 hours use. My sleep doc just had Xrays taken, we go over them today. He said he now has all the data he needs and has no qualms about letting the insurance know that all standard treatments have failed and that an MMA is the logical next course of action. He said there is a surgeon who has recently relocated to Salt Lake City who is board ceritified in DDS and MD and has received the training to preform the MMA as part of the sleep apnea treatment. My doc said he will send me to see him then let me decide whether or not to stay with him or go to Stanford...a lot will depend on how many and what success rate this guy has as to if I stay here or obligate money I don't have to go to Stanford.
