I have had the GA and the hyoid; have not had the UPPP. My uvula was removed almost 50 years ago during a tonsilectomy. The several doctors I have seen all think the problem is not the upper airway (above the tongue). All are under the opinion that besides being a little thick, the back of the tongue is too long for the back of my throat. There is some measurement from the hyoid to an axis through the jaw line that should be 16 or 17mm. Mine is about 27 or 28. This coupled with the fact that I sometimes get the choking feeling seem to indicate that the obstuction is not enough room low. They have all felt the MMA is going to be very successful.
