Bizarre uvula sensation after UPPP!

Posted by Andy on April 03, 2003 at 11:04:10:

I have had much of my uvula reduced, and am left with, um, OK, it's like a little stump, if you will. It's been only 3 days since surgery and I know the stitches will be there for a bit, BUT the feeling of my uvula is really weird. Not so much like gagging, but like a tickling or a light scraping feeling on the back of my tongue. Moreover, just something that I am VERY aware of! Has anyone else experienced this? Please, tell me it goes away after the stitches come out and it heals some, or that one just gets used to it. Everything so far after the UP3(knock on wood) has been fine. I would hate to have this be a life long inconvenience! HELP!!!
