BGH- you are not alone. I was so happy when I found this site and have learned a lot about the treatments and recovery of various surgeries. I am a 37 year old male in California. I was diagnosed with OSA over 5 years ago. My RDI is at 42 and O2 level of 90%. A year ago, before my UPPP and GTA procedures, my O2 level was at 75% and RDI at 40. I am happy that there was one positive, my O2 level. RDI can vary with sleep studies. I too was given the CPAP but suffered through many night of gasping and suffocation. I got less sleep with the mask than without. I am schedule for the MMA at Stanford in July and was given a success rate of 97%. Personally, I expect to take a month off of work. I did not know of the possibility of permanenet lower lip and chin numbness. I worry more because if this is true, I will have to give up playing the Trumpet. I guess I could always play something else. Anyway, everyone here is very supportive so good luck with your surgery and I will definitely keep everyone posted regarding my procedure and recovery.
