Posted by UKmum on January 26, 2004 at 02:53:46:Hi there everyone. I have been lurking here for a few weeks and thought it was about time I introduced myself.
I have no idea if I have sleep apnoea - I come from England and our free health system is rather hesistant to spend money on a sleep study - in fact they have never mentioned it in my consultations! But I do snore very loudly at night (my poor husband who sleeps on the lounge floor will testify to this) and often feel sleepy all day. I had septoplasty surgery two weeks ago and had my adenoids removed. It has so far helped my nose to feel more comfortable (it had previously felt stuck together) but I am still mouth snoring. I have a soft, low hanging uvula and low palette and I think this is the main contributor to my snoring. But I fear that the health system here will not preform surgery unless I can give them a really good reason too (cannot afford to go privately). I go for a follow-up appointment in April. I am at a loss as what to do - I would like to be able to get a good nights sleep and actually share my bed with my husband!!
Any help would be much much appreciated.
