Dissolvable stitches - how long ?

Posted by UKmum on January 28, 2004 at 13:50:26:

How long exactly are these beasts meant to hang around for? I had septoplasty surgery two weeks ago. One of the stitches I think was not held in properly because it came out after one week in it's whole form with the knot still tied. The remaining one is still in and as hard as wire and showing no signs of softening. It is just becoming annoying now and I want it OUT! The incision site itself is still occassionally oozing a little blood and is quite taut. I'm wondering if they used the wrong stitches in error - eeek!
