Help - guidance on sleep position

Posted by pickle on January 29, 2004 at 22:52:49:

I am looking for some advice on managing sleep positions from anyone that has this experience or knowledge.

For background - I have moderate sleep apnea with an AHI of 30.5 episodes per hour. According to the study, however, all of my apnea events occurred on my back. I do not know how accurate this was, but the clinic and study seemed sophisticated enough that I have to take their word.

This seems to mean that if I can find a way to remain on my side, I will sleep OK. Problem has been - I always end up on my back. I think this is because my neck, shoulder back eventually get tired or natural movement during sleep.

Can anyone tell me if they have had success with either learning to manage there sleep position or find a type of bed/mattress that aids them? I have even thought of buying one of the "spongy" space material beds. Any input is greatly appreciated.
