It's really hard to give advice with my limited knowledge. But I did discover in my journey with the various doctors that many have a very limited scope of advanced surgical procedures. For instance my ENT advised strongly against the MMA. He was hesitant to advise UPPP but felt that as a better option. I finally found my way to a non cpap clinic where I was seen by a sleep doc, an ENT, and an oral surgeon. The team then met to discuss the best course of action. The important thing is that the doctors should be trained and understand obstructive sleep apnea and the latest surgical techniques. My experience is that most doctors are not adequately aware ot the range of surgical options. I had MMA surgery this past November and am delighted with the results. There was substantial discomfort but not much pain. My trachea twice the width of pre-operation. Take the time to find an experienced oral surgeon who is well educated in treating OSA. It might save you a lot of pain for little gain.
