Fears during the surgery are a little over the top. Think about it... a what other time are you going to be hooked up to so many monitors and have so many people hovering around you. The way I looked at it was it is probably the safest you are going to be. I had the MMA done last April and it was well over six hours. No problems. You have to do what is right for you but for me the surgery was the only alternative as the pump doesn't work for me.
