Part of the good thing about having surgery is that you loose several pounds from not wanting to eat while recovering. This in combination with a possibility of surgery helping to correct your problem may give you more energy to be more active and excercise. I know that in my experiance, I never had anergy to exercise, so I did not until I had surgery and felt that I had more energy and was less depressed. As for CPAP...I know that it is supposed to be a great solution, but I found that I could not sleep very well with it. I tried full mask, nasal pillow, etc. Used it on and off for 1 year and did not see much in the way of results. I was still tired all the time and from my sleep study, the CPAP did help my apneas, but not to the level where I was considered "normal". I think that where the obstruction lies playes a big role with CPAP working. If it is the "flap" that is causing your problem, I think that you will have more success, but if the problem lies deeper in the tongue base, I think that it may not always slove the problem, but it may sure help..I am no doctor, just voicing my experience. I am also 27 and don't want to lug that machine around for the rest of my life especially if it does not slove my problem of being tired still.....Make sure you get yourself in the hospital though...You will thank youself for it when you are feeling better. It is so wonderful to wake up in the morning and feel rested and not to have to take naps whenever you come home. Again about your concerns, there is always a risk in surgery, but the mortality rate from having these types of surgeries is practically 0.....Good luck with your doctor. It seems like a good idea to be admitted early and hve them sedate you....
