UPPP with limited pain meds

Posted by fos4us on September 30, 2004 at 19:39:54:

I'm scheduled for a UPPP Tuesday. I had a sleep test score of 26, whatever that means. Anyway, I'm allergic to Percocet, Darvocet and Codine so my doc says I might be stuck with regular liquid Tylenol during post op recovery. He normally prescribes a liquid form of Percocet, which supposedly works well, but in my case he can't because of the allergies.

I normally take Demerol for any kind of serious pain, but Demerol is a pill, which apparently is out of the question. So my question is what meds were those of you who've had the UPPP prescribed? I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but from what I've read, I could be in for a real difficult recovery.
