I also belong to a forum about chronic fatigue and metals poisoning and candida and such, and the concensus there is that basal temp below 98 or so is indicative of low thyroid. I had many of those thyroid panels done, and evidently those tests yield a lot of false negatives.

Below is the link to a site where they have more info on that. I found a doc who treats thyroid and diagnoses based on basal temp and symptoms, and he put me on Armour two months ago and just upped the dosage last week. There is some research that has established a link between low thyroid and apnea.
