sleepytime, most people have this surgery in conjuction with braces for occlusal problems. they typically wear them for 1.5 years prior and 6 months after. sure makes banding easier with braces to hook them to and bite should come out perfect when done. orthos work closely with Oral surgeons the whole way and have a consesus of how to proceed.(two minds are better than one!) good luck/grumpy
