6 Days Post UPPP

Posted by fos4us on October 11, 2004 at 12:03:49:

I really don't have any questions; I just want to post my experience for someone else to learn from.

OP Day: Woke up in recovery room feeling pretty good. Mouth not too sore, but I know the worst will come later.

Day 1: Roxicet is a wonderful drug! Spend most of day in bed; when out of bed I felt dizzy and nauseous. Ate mostly yogurt and pudding. Popsicles didn't help. Somehow they thickened up in the back of my throat and I had trouble getting them down. Ditto for Gatorade. Warm apple cider really helped.

Day 2: See Day 1!

Day 3: Really tired of feeling dizzy & nauseous when awake. Throat looks like chemistry experiment. Stitches in throat make it feel like I'm eating through a fish net.

Day 4: Bound to get off Roxicet to try to get cobwebs out of my head. Most of the pain is associated with swallowing so I lower my dosage of dope and drink more warm liquids. Stepped on scales: lost 10 pounds in 4 days!

Day 5: Feeling much better, so I drop the drugs altogether. Throat still hurts some when swallowing, but Cepacol spray and warm liquids help just as much as narcotics do, and they don't have the side effects. Had some warm macaroni and cheese for dinner:)

Day 6: So far so good! Throat still sore when swallowing, but I guess I'm in for another week of that. Today is a noticeable improvement over yesterday.
