I started with an AHI of 37 before UPPP, and 4 months later that number was recorded at 30. The second time around, almost all of the events were either hyponeas, with a few apneas classified as central, whereas the first study had a greater number of full obstructive apneas. But, the two studies were done in two different labs, and my current doctor tells me not to read too much into fine distinctions. The bottom line is he thinks most of the events are still related to obstruction/ restrictions in the airway.
At any rate, the constant daytime headaches are mostly gone now, and I do seem to have a few more "good" days where I have the energy to do more than just exist, so I feel there has been some progress, just not enough to stop looking for improvement...so in I go for round two.
I am being treated in Boston, so I doubt we have the same physcian. I hope we can both claim success in the next round!
