Totally different procedures for totally different reasons. Turbs will do nothing for your apnea except help you comply with cpap(which, presumably isnce you are here, have given up on). As for somnoplasty of the tongue...it has not been around long enough to have the empirical data.

But both are pretty minimal operations...infact, some surgeons would say its not an operationat all.

If the base of your tongue is big, its worth a shot. But from what I have read, it is NOT a cure all....just something to do in conjunction with other treatments. I may have it done after my MMA November 2(gulp) if my RDI is still a little too high. just because the risk is so low, and the potential gains of shrinking my tongue are worth the time and effort.

And after the mma, the somnoplasty will feel like a Carribean vacation.

Though it may seem like the most important task is figuring out the best surgery...the TRULY most important thing is to get evaluated by a great doc. If money is no cost(which was NOT the case for me) the STanford guys have an amazing reputation
