I went back to work after 10 days following my MMA. Are you doing any stretching excercizes to increase you mouth opening? My arch bars came off at 5 weeks and the doc had me start stacking tongue depressors and forcing them in my mouth at 7 weeks. By ten weeks, my opening was up to 4.5 cm. Give it time and you'll get there.

Now, as to the insurance. Have the surgeon write a letter as to the procedure "being necessary for the medical management of the underlying cause of obstructive sleep apnea". That plus your comments as to increased chances for quality of life might get them to cover it. I did it this way and my company changed from "out of network" to same as "in network" which changed my having to pay $20k of the $29K to $150 which the doctor waived because of how much I fought the insurance company to pay. Good Luck.
