Diagnosed with SA need MMA surg

Posted by tradingdavid on March 24, 2005 at 03:14:28:

I was just diagnosed with SA with and RDI of 21 and a oxygen desaturation of 87%.
I'm still getting used to the CPAP. However, I was referred to the sleep center by an oral surgeon who was going to correct my underbite (and its numerous underlying chewing, talking, tmj issues hopefully)as a precaution.
The sleep doctor said as long as they advanced the upper jaw it would help.
However, from reading on here it's obvious I need a second opinion/consult from an oral surgeon who does MMA's. I live in MS and have relatives in Atlanta so I'm going to try to go to that surgeon in Marietta for a second opinion/consult.
The good part is I have the braces on. The bad part is I need to start working on this.
Anyone with an underbite have this done?
What are some question I need to ask the surgeon.
Should I also see an ENT?
Thanks
David
