It is not absolutly vital that your surgeon have extensive mma for apnea experience. It is MORE important that they have done lots of the surgeries for other reasons.

As far as reconstructive jaw surgery goes, MMA for apnea patients is usually easier than for other people because both jaws, unless there are other restrictions, are brought out the same lenghth.


The guy who did mine is not an apnea mma specialist(though he is becoming that, I suppose).
He is actually more reknowned for his work with kids with severely deformed jaws. Comparatively, we are a piece of cake. Set the oven to 400 degrees, add two eggs, and move both the mandible and maxilla 10mm.


Its so dramatic for us and our families, but for the surgeons, we are a routine operation.

I am sure the docs at UCLA or USC have to have at least one great surgeon on Kaiser.
