congratulations mikeinboston

it's funny, but I guess not so surprising -- awhile after the mma
one gets so accustomed to sleeping without apnea and without
cpap that it's almost hard to remember how it used to be. That's
why those using this forum change over time and those that
were posting when I first started reading these pages and
considering surgery are mostly gone -- except for rtf and
occasionally alamo joe. It all become less relevant to current life
-- we all move on to other things.

I say this because those of you in the throes of it all can look
forward to it! There really is life without apnea.

Anyway, I'm not really sure why this site still is of interest to me
since I am done with my cure. But I guess I like giving
encouragement to you all out there since I've been through it.

My first surgery was in 2001! Kind of amazing. I had the mma in
2003. My rdi went from 80 to 9 over the course of the three
surgeries, but most of the reduction occurred with the mma.

Now I don't even think about it, although for me the facial
changes are a permanent reminder; I'm an unusual case that
way, in that I look so different now. But I'd do it all again, braces
and all. I feel so much healthier, and not to cart the darn cpap
machine everywhere when traveling, and not to wake up choking
after inadvertently removing the cpap mask, and not to worry
about lack of air in general -- it's all worth it!!!
