Thanks for the good info. WJ. Although I have been reading a lot on this site, that was my first post...this is then only my second.
FYI, a little about me....in fall 2000 I had the famously painful UPPP, did pretty well for awhile, but must have declined over time, because last fall, even with the UPPP and losing 40 lbs, I'd slipped from moderate sleep apnea to severe since last sleep test in fall 2000. So, I went on auto cpap with humidifier and breeze headgear around Thanksgiving 2004, and had a UPPP revision (due to scar tissue) in late Jan. of 2005. I am a relatively young woman, 43, and I still hope to marry someday...and so would very much like to find a release from all the hoses, masks, chin straps etc. as I cannot imagine sharing any of this with any man I might care for. Also, I cannot sleep on CPAP...I wake up 2 to 4 times a night, still have RDI of 3-9 each hour, and just despise the whole hooked to a machine experience. I am not afraid to let them cut on me, as you can see by my past....I just have to decide if I want to have part of my hard palate cut out and the soft palate pulled forward which is what my ENT suggests, or the MMA(big step I know) or the button trach as at least a temporary solution to my misery.
So far CPAP is killing what little energy and concentration I have left, even more so than when I was without it....I can't concentrate, learn, engage in life very well due to the exhaustion and brain fog.
So, that's my story...am open to all advice Thanks.
