Sounds a lot like the problem I'm having there. Were you diagnosed as having a severe case of macroglossia? Do you find yourself having to bob the back of your tongue to open the airway to breathe?

The only evidence of sleep troubles they could find in the polysomnographies done on me are the poor timing, fragmentation and depth of sleep, not to mention the obvious physical evidence of a really, really big tongue.

Are the bumps left behind on the tongue really that bothersome? Are they visible from the front?

As for intubation, the most successful method that has worked on me was getting three latex tubes from a hardware store, cutting them to the right length and sticking them as far in through your mouth as you can without gagging.
