Well, I don't know about getting the "utmost " in care. Believe me, I'm not the man's cheerleader; and I could care less about the hoighty-toighty nature of some institution's name. I would've been happy to have stayed in town to have my MMA done. I had an excellent surgeon do everything for me up to the MMA at our own hospital in Seattle. It was simply a matter of numbers (cases per year, morbidity stats, and hospital staff references) that lead me elsewhere.

Fortunately for me, my case was pretty straight-forward as far the treatment pathway goes. I think your instincts were dead right. If anyone, including some highly reputed surgeon, says to do something that seems out of the norm...or otherwise unacceptable, I'd seek other opinions as well.

The treatments that you are pursuing seem pretty reasonable. Other options are available in Seattle and will do well by you. Be wary, though, about getting an MMA here. Our programs aren't that mature yet to have the "numbers."

Good luck,

Bill
