Ummmm....
Ummmmmm...
A low success rate IS a serious downside. There are few operations that do not entail some level of risk. And the UPP is taking tissue out...and correct me if I am wrong, Seattle Bill, but once you take something out, you can't put it back in.
As for downside like you meant it, really depends on the quality of the surgeon. This aint no muffler you are getting installed. Go to the best around. I posted a site earlier about how to avoid quacks....you can read that. But your surgeon is the BIGGEST factor in post surgery results.
Sorry to be a kill joy. But I suppose the UPP works sometimes, but I gotta say, just from the posts here, it does not seem so great.
Wanna hear something neat...I know only the regs will be wading to the bottom... but a buddy of a buddy is working on a new technology for sleep apnea.
They are outting magnets in peoples throats and using the reverse polarity to keep the airway open. I think it will be years till it makes it to the market, but pretty neat, huh? They have lots of bugs to work out, apparently...And no, I don't have any other info. So you never know what may be coming down the pike.
Even the use of the MMA for sleep apnea is only a few years old( I know the Stanford guys were pioneers, but its only just really catching on).
So there is always new options coming down the ole freeway.
And Bill, did you donate your cpap stuff?
