An acute episode of what you describe actually happened to me this past May, during tree pollen season. My airway in the region of the Larynx slammed completely shut at night, and would not open for about 20-30 seconds (hard to keep accurate track of time when your suffocating). Hasn't happened before or since. After describing my symptoms and checking my airway with a nasal ;scope and X-ray, My ENT concluded that there were no detectable abnormalities in the airway. He also said he sees quite a number of patients with similar stories during high pollen periods.

Post nasal drip is a fairly large problem for me, and it definitely worsens Apnea; I can usually predict a bad night ahead if the "faucet" is on high.

Also have heard from my Apnea Doc that apnea can actually cause of aggravate heartburn, since negative airway pressure can suck stuff up the esophagus.

Have you had a lot of nasal complications after the MMA, and how are you doing in general?
