I'm trying to deal with the same problem. I had the surgery and kept the EDS. My follow up study still showed "arousals" but no apnea, and MSLT was up from 1.5min to 5min. They never said for sure what the diagnosis was, but that it was consistent with IH and possible upper airway resistance syndrome. A year after the surgery, I'm on lunesta to sleep and over 80mg of adderall to stay awake. My Dr was in New Orleans, so I had to find a new guy, but he wants to keep the meds the same. I'm going back tommorow to try and get some better options, otherwise I'll flunk out of law school. Bottom line, tell them you need answers because these meds may help now, but why wait until things get worse to find the real problem? I'll let you know if my Dr says anything useful.
