Well, snoring is the "side-effect" of sleep apnea. If you had an MMA/GA and fixed your apnea, and then snored...it would be safer and better for health...but a nuisance.

There are other lesser and isolated procedures (RF Tongue somnoplasty...out-patient or in office) that will probably help your snoring once your apnea is better addressed.

On the other hand, a UPPP may help your total airway to improve the outcome of your MMA (this is just my opinion...not backed by any papers or data that I know of). I'd check with the MMA guy and see what he thinks about getting the UPPP to help the MMA, or getting an MMA and a more benign (and less expensive) procedure to address snoring.

The conventional ENT guy may be right...of course UPPPs are what he does...and Holiday bills need to be paid.
