I have a recessive jaw and because of that factor the tongue falls back into the throat causing the obstruction for sleep apnea. I believe the older one gets the more lax the muscles get (am I right Seattlebill?) and the more obstructed one becomes.
My insurance company considers bariatric surgery cosmetic surgery, though I too am considered obese.
I recommend you see the specialists for MMA and find out exactly what the obstruction is so you can have all the facts in front of you and also it should help with insurance company claims if the specialist says MMA surgery would not be as effective as bariatric surgery in your case. -- deedee
