MMA (especially done in combo with genioglossus advancement) is the best procedure *if* your OSA is due to tongue base obstruction. From your description, it sounds like this might be the case.

UPPP does have the risk of hyponasality, but it's pretty low. The bigger risk is that it won't work, or won't last long term. So you've taken all the risks of a major surgery for no reason. The success statistics for UPPP are not good.

I had the same fear about UPPP (I'm a singer and speaker/presenter) and my voice actually got a little more resonant. Unfortunately, it didn't help my apnea long term.

A number of people have posted here about somnoplasty and other tongue reduction techniques. I don't recall that there have been many (or any) success stories.

You might want to follow up with your sleep study results. Hypopneas (without apneas) should not produce a significant oxygen desaturation, AFAIK.
