Wow, it's unusual to have MMA along with soft-tissue work for that very reason.

They wouldn't have 'lost you' but might have had to do a temp trach if things got really bad. Certainly not the end of the world but scary if unexpected.

Think of it this way, you'll have a better recovery with just MMA. Will they be doing a GA too?
