You might want to ask why he does GBAT as opposed to regular GA. Is there a reason (your particular physiology) or is it just familiarity, or higher success rate?

The MMA for most is not much pain at all, but a LOOONG recovery. I had more pain with UPPP/tonsillectomy, but with MMA there was a feeling of low energy, mental cloudiness that didn't go away for many months (although I was functional in a few weeks).

Being under anesthesia for many hours seems to be a popular phobia. It freaked me out too. All I can say is that you won't notice the time passing.
