I am having GA only this month. The doctor doesn't want to do jaw advancement at this time because both upper and lower would have to be done to keep things in line. When I keep my neck straight my airway is 15 centimeters. When I bend my head forward it becomes 3 centimeters. The doctor thinks the GA will give me an extra 5 centimeters making it 8 centimeters when I bend my head forward. My question is for those having just the GA do you still have to use the cpap machine and can a chin strap be used after this operation. I feel very much in the dark about the recovery aspect of this. People bend their head to eat( and I have had a few episodes of the food just sitting at the back of my throat) to read, to hand sew, to watch tv ( if wearing bi-focals) and of course in their sleep. Every evening I have hesitant thoughts about this surgery and every morning when I get up exhausted I think.. for the love of God do something. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
