Torus mandibularis and OSA

Posted by sleepy-in-seattle on June 06, 2006 at 11:26:05:

I found this interesting article:

http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BUM/is_5_83/ai_n6055211

The torus (or tori as they usually occur in pairs) is a bony growth inside the lower gum line and under the tongue. Long considered benign unless absolutely huge, there is indication that they could contribute to apnea by crowding the tongue back towards the throat.

My own tori are fairly good-sized. I am having the nasal scope done next week to assess my post-MMA airway and see what is causing my residual apneas and hypopneas. We will also discuss removal of the tori if warranted.

Anyone else have large tori? Discuss.
