sleep apnea and glaucoma

Posted by LadyBaltimore on June 08, 2006 at 09:02:24:

I saw my eye doctor today about having cataracts removed. Because of my sleep apnea he performed a more extensive test for glaucoma. Evidently sleep apnea not only changes the eye lid but also promotes glaucoma. A resident at U of MD has written a paper on this and will present it to a conference soon. Patients who were diagnosed for glaucoma were asked if they had sleep apnea. They said no and the eye doctor sent them for a sleep test. They came back with severe sleep apnea. It makes me wonder what else will eventually be linked to sleep apnea.
